General Safety Courses

  • OHS Fall Protection: This is a 6-7 hour program that was designed to increase awareness and help the student better understand the need, and the basic use of fall protection. Topics covered include fall protection options, review of applicable legislation, introduction to fall protection equipment, introduction to equipment inspection, fall protection planning and more... Students will receive a wallet certificate verifying completion upon successful completion of a written exam. Full participation is mandatory.
  • OHS Confined Space Entry: This is a 6-7 hour program designed to increase awareness of hazards as well as prepare the worker for entry into confined spaces. Topics covered include confined space identification, review of applicable legislation, confined space hazard identification and controls, confined space entry team members, introduction to confined space entry permits and more... A confined space rescue component can be added upon request for groups. Students will receive a wallet certificate verifying completion upon successful completion of a written exam. Full participation is mandatory.
  • Fire Awareness/Extinguisher: This program is approximately 3 hours and was designed to give students an introduction to fire hazard awareness and to provide an introduction to fire extinguishment with hand held fire extinguishers. Topic covered include fire components, hare hazards, basics of fire planning, fire class identification, fire extinguisher identification, use and more... (the extinguisher course adds the use of a handheld extinguisher to extinguish a small fire using a fire simulator). Students will receive a wallet certificate verifying completion upon successful completion of a written exam. Full participation is mandatory.
  • WHMIS with GHS introduction: This program is a 3-4 hour program designed to inform students of controlled product identification and control in the workplace. Topics covered include Responsibilities, symbol identification, introduction to controlled product classes, introduction to labels, material safety data sheets, an introduction to changes that will be implemented under the Globally Harmonized System and more... Students will receive a wallet certificate verifying completion upon successful completion of a written exam. Full participation is mandatory.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods: This is a 3-4 hour course designed to protect the public during transportion of dangerous goods. This program will help develop a more clear understanding of basic TDG requirements including shippers, handlers and receivers of dangerous goods. Topics covered include classes of dangerous goods, responsibilities, placard identification reporting requirements and more... Students will receive a wallet certificate verifying completion upon successful completion of a written exam. Full participation is mandatory.
  • Aerial Work Platform (AWP): This is an 8 hour program designed to introduce student to aerial work platforms including scissor lifts, straight boom lifts and articulating boom lifts. Topics covered include an intro to applicable legislation, equipment components, equipment inspection introduction to equipment controls, AWP hazards and more... Students will receive a wallet certificate verifying completion upon successful completion of a written exam. Full participation is mandatory. Please note that employer must still supervise on site and introduce student to site specific equipment to verify worker competence.
  • Qualitative Fit Testing: This fit test is used primarily for cartridge operated/air purifying respirators not supplied air devices. It is a manual test relying on sense of smell to detect the presence of an odorized agent (we primarily use a bitrix solution). This test can be conducted for individuals or groups at our site or yours. Call for more details. Will receive a wallet certificate verifying completion upon successful completion of a written exam. Full participation is mandatory.
  • General Mine Safety Awareness: This 24 hour training program is a requirement for any contractor working on a mine site in Saskatchewan. Offered with instructor support both online and in a classroom environment to accommodate accessibility and diverse learning styles, the program provides an overview of mine safety through 13 modules. 1. Saskatchewan Mining Regulations Employment Act; 2. Hazard recognition 3. Personal protective equipment 4. Safe use of hand and power tools; 5. Safe use of scaffolding and ladders; 6. Controlled energy 7. Fire safety 8. Environmental safety 9. Reporting incidents 10. Ground control awareness 11. Self-rescue techniques 12. Asbestos awareness 13. Fit for duty and drug and alcohol testing.
  • WHMIS 2015 (GHS): Canada has aligned the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) for WHMIS 2015 legislation. This course addresses the WHMIS 2015 education requirements for workers to understand the hazards, and know how to work safely with hazardous products. The current education and training requirements that fall under the WHMIS related occupational health and safety regulations for Saskatchewan are also addressed in this course. Note: Employers are still responsible to provide workers with site-and-job-specific training and information.
